Charlie's Clocks

Wow...give it up for Sundial, one of maybe a dozen select Clock Crew members who can actually use flash. It's great to say some Clock Crew members who actually try to do good work, and this is what this is.

There graphics were top notch, my only problem is that at the end when they went to the Color Clocks' base, it was all grey inside, and lacked color, which is odd since they are the Color Clocks. So the backgrounds in there got very old.

This is definitely going to be one of my favorite submission, and this is one of the best Clock Crew films I've seen in a long, long, long time...though not as good as The Void II (but many fall flat compared to that film). Keep up the good work and soon your movies 'will make House Party, look like House Party 2'....(Just a quote from Jay and Silent Bob).

TheBluntSDK gives Charlie's Clocks a well deserved 9 out of 10

Sundial responds:

Thanks, TheBluntSDK! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah the place was dark and grey inside because a) it was supposed to be kind of ironic, b) the color clocks looked good against a grey background, and c) It was a reference to greyclock, the other color clock. Well, I just made up that last one, but I like greyclock. Of coarse it's not as good as VOID II. VOID II was 1337. By the way, your "Yin-Yang Clock" can be seen somewhere in the movie. And you are thanked in the credits (I dont know if you remember, but you helped in my post about plot ideas for this movie on the CC BBS.) Anyway, thanx for the lengthy review!

Resident Koopa

I don't see how this got such a high ranking. Firstly, the graphics are horrible. The sprites look nice, but when on such a blank bankground....it looked like it was designed by a grade-schooler.

The sound was average. It was really good, but for a lot of the movie it's just blank, with no sounds to be found. I loved the sound effects when I heard them, but for the majority of this movie you don't hear them.

The idea was good, and I like it, but it had a poor execution. There was a good plot to be found, but it was hard to tell what was going on because it jumped around so much. The narrative helped a little....but only a little.

If you could improve upon these downfalls in your next movie it would be all the better, but as this stands right now, I can't see this movie being better than average.

TheBluntSDK gives Resident Koopa a 5 out of 10

Every now and then I get a good review that's not moronic and actually has points to it and this happens to be one. Point well made I'll be sure to keep all that in mind. Thank you for the intellegent review :)

Newgrounds Cameo Episode

The graphics were great and were right up there with Jim The Cat and Mary's Lamb. The style was great as well as the animation, because when you used tweening it looked really nice and natural, which is often hard to do through tweening. The sound was another great part of this cartoon. The voices all sounded different, with the exception of the Knuckles character and the other one that looked like him who was with Wade, and all fit the characters very nicely.

However, the plot had me very confused. I had no idea what was going on...but then again you said that it would make sense when you see both episodes.

Overall great graphics and sound, but the plot left me confused. The second one might clear it up and make it sensible, but as this animation stands right now, it's not very logical.

TheBluntSDK gives Newgrounds Cameo Episode a 7 out of 10.

Blaklyon responds:

thanks for the decent score and the honest review. You should work for Tech TV's Extended play or, at least the animation show called Eyedrops.

Clocks vs Sticks The War

I honestly can not see how this got above a 3.00, let alone a 3.46. The graphics were excellent, and I really loved the airplane fights at the beginning. The style was terrific and it moved smoothly for the most part.

However, there are just too many mistakes and glitches in this that I can't get over. First of all, the Scene Selections is a great idea, especially since you can preview the scenes somewhat. Unfortunately when you do, the scenes end up going out side of the space they're supposed to be confined too.

Then you have the title, that sticks on the screen throughout half of this movie, which was very annoying.

And speaking of annoying, their was no real plot here. You see the creator's name, then for some reason, planes come down and blow each other up. Then a stick drops a clock? How does this make sense? It doesn't. Poor writing skills.

And speaking of writing skills, your lacking in spelling and grammar. My head ached reading some of these lines, lines such as "I'll excort you!". Honestly, I don't know what the hell excort is?

The people giving this movie a 5, or 10's and 9's in the reviews, show that you can make a horrible movie, but have good effects and you'll do good.

This movie doesn't deserve to be blammed, but it's not that far off.

Spam Be Gone, just work on your writing skills, and come up with an intellectual or sensible plot for your next flash, and it'll be all the more better, and you would be so much closer to a 4 or 5.

TheBluntSDK gives Clocks vs Sticks The War, a deserving 4 out of 10.

James-Ball responds:

I think your review was harsh. Really harsh. Think of it. I make flash with a political point, IE Nuclear Warfare N Korea and nobody watches it. People dont watch serious movies. THey just rather have jokes about gay people or bush kissing saddam. Or some very violent movie

One Step

Though your Author's Comment came off as snide and conceded, I do know talent when I see it, and you have a knack for Flash. You gave this cartoon the atmosphere and qualities that would be found in a Looney Toons episode, or such like that. Very nicely done.

I really wanted to see a background and that hindered the graphics department slightly, and the sound effects were right on, though there were places in this cartoon that I felt some more sound or music could be placed to make it all the more better.

Overall this is an above average work, and if you check my other reviews, you'll see that you've received one of my highest rankings. I wish you luck on any future flash animations that you make and I'm fully competent that your skills as an animator will grow and grow, that is if you become less egotistical.

Halley responds:

Wow. It's really nice to get complements like this!
And about the whole egotistical thing, I'm not really THAT bad, I've noticed that when I'm watching a cartoon and the Author's Comment is something like "Uhhh... I know that it's stupid, BUT PLEEEEEEEASE DON'T BLAM IT! I worked hard. (sniff)"
I generaly think "If he dosen't even like it why should I?" and my opinion is influenced by his lack of confidence. Maybe I went a little to far. But anyways, I'm REALLY glad that you liked it so much even to go as far as to compare it to Looney Toons!
So thanks a bunch for all your advice.
And thanks for being blunt!

PS: I just watched some of your cartoons, it's nice to know that I'm compliments from a good animator! :)

Crow Clock Shorts #2

Very nice. My only problem is the ending. It ended way too fast and I could not tell what happened. The parrot screamed and the wall blew up?

Eh. Anyways, I think you quite possibly has the best artistic talent of any of the clock crew members and you should definitely keep making movies of this calibur.

fourchinnigan responds:

Yeah, I should have done a little more at the ending probably.

Nothing really interesting here...if you want interesting check out my movies! Hah!
